Personal:

Pepper is my dog, thus my namesake. Used to run quite fast in the USMC (15:30 3 miles was my best) but stopped running when I got out. Now, it's much tougher and I generally cycle more than I run. However, I still compete in races because it's run and I can be a wee bit competitive.

Ran before lunch while I was at work today. The heat is still there, as it was about 83 degrees, but the humidity is all but gone. It's so much easier to run when you're not running in soup. Ran 5 miles on a pretty hilly course (Custis Trail), taking the first half to warm up. During the second half, I was moving pretty well and finished in 38:11. I felt really good and could have gone further but don't want to push is as I continue my mileage building. Still planning on heading out to Old Rag on Saturday and maybe Robertson Mountain afterward (Thanks Lucia!). It looks like it's going to be a solo hike as I can't seem to find anyone to go, and Pepper isn't allowed out ther according to the hiking book I have. Doggie Discrimination! Well...back to work...

Man, you're on a roll!

I did those two hikes on Christmas eve and the views were fantastic - such a special place.

Any interest in a lunchtime run by the Rosslyn Bridge/C&O Canal tomorrow or Friday? I'm trying to get my co-workers out and about, to no avail... Looks like your office is much more athletic!

I'm looking forward to getting those hikes in...really looking forward to it.

I wouldn't be opposed to running the Bridge/Canal tomorrow. Friday is a no-go as I have the day off, but tomorrow is good with me. What time would you want to run. I could meet you down on the Georgetown side of the bridge.

My office is pretty much made up of former military folks (retirees, others) and most of them were in the Special Operations Community (Navy SEALS), so yes, they are quite atheletic.

I'm thinking around noon - would that work for you? I'm worried I won't be able to keep up with you though... you're getting really fast!

From Aaron-PSU on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 15:34:16

Noon would work for me. Don't worry about speed...We can run at the pace of your choosing.

Cool - noon at the bridge, on the Georgetown side then? Look for the girl wearing running attire with an Argentine accent.

Check it out, from the Pacer's newsletter:

Receive a free pair of Balega socks when you join Pacers at one of the following community fun runs:

Thurs., June 12: 7pm at Pacers Arlington (3100 Clarendon Boulevard)

I'm thinking tomorrow will be a double day for me! Free socks!

Great. Georgetown side of the bridge at noon works for me. Look for the guy wearing blue running shorts, a grey running shirt...running shoes...etc...no accent.

i may have to do the fun run thing...although I usually have to get home to take Pepper out after work. Dang...what a troublesome decision to make.
